I wanted to share where we decided on moving to in New York! The last week of our trip we spent in Chelsea on the west side. Chelsea is close to Meatpacking District, West Village and Mid Town. One of my favourite spots over on the lower west side is the highline It runs through Chelsea down to the Meatpacking District and runs parallel to the Hudson River. It’s an elevated walkway on an old railway line. It’s a beautiful way to walk through the city and helps avoid busy roads. West Village is great, it is filled with smaller buildings than what you would get as you enter mid-town, and the building rules stop tall buildings being built there, which means you get a great view up to Mid-town of the high risers. A couple of times I walked down to Soho, which is a great spot too, and it took me about 35 minutes.

Along the high line are a number of great apartment buildings, which is where we found our building! After much discussion Steve and I agreed on our top 3 priorities for our apartment and decided to compromise on the other things we agreed weren’t actually so important to us. We figured living in New York for a while is a pretty exciting thing to do and we wanted a view from our apartment of the city that we could enjoy every day. The apartment we chose has breath taking views of the city and over the Hudson river. We’re super excited about moving over. Now it’s the hard job of packing up and deciding what to take and figuring out how to get it over to the states!

Here’s a few snaps of the apartments we viewed along the highline. Our building is the mid-rise brick building towards the end.

I’d love to hear from anyone who knows the Chelsea area well in New York for great tips and places to go.
