Milos is an Island in the Greek Cyclades, it’s beautiful, trendy and relaxed, yet also pleases the adventurous traveller. I’m going to share with you the hot spots on this magnificent island!
Milos is one of the furthest islands away from the port in Athens and it is fabulous! Steve and I spent 2 weeks here in 2014 and aside from our honeymoon it’s been my personal favourite holiday we’ve taken.
We choose Milos because we were looking for an island that had some nightlife, but not as much as say Mykonos, a relaxed small Hora and things we could explore in the day. For those of you who have partners who want to explore instead of lay on a beach all day then I would recommend Milos, because it provides that and if like me, who loves doing very little on holiday, then it provides that too.
In order to see all of the following hotspots, it’s recommended to hire a car for your time on the island.
My Hot spots on Milos island in Greece:
#1 Sarakiniko
The island is a volcanic island so there are some really dramatic beaches that show off to that. Sarakiniko is one of them. The beach is made up of caves that line the emerald colour sea. Book tickets before you go and I’d recommend going either first thing for later in the evening, as it’s less busy during these times.
#2 Friplaka
This beach is super private and breath taking. It does take some effort to get to and the path leading down to the beach is very small and only a hand rope to help guide you, so come prepared with the right footwear for this one. It is totally worth the effort.
#3 Melian Boutique Hotel
We stayed here during our time on Milos, and we would recommend it. The rooms are bright and spacious, the service is excellent and the vibe is stylish and relaxed.
#4 Walk to the top of Plaka
Plaka is the central town on the island. It’s great for nights out and walks around sunset time. If you walk all the way to the top of plaka, you get magnificent views of the island! and it’s a good way of getting some exercise, if like me you’ve eaten to much ice cream!
#5 The Utopia Sunset Bar in Plaka
Pull up a seat in this stylish cafe on the edge of a cliff and order a cocktail and become immersed in the sunset views here, they are fab!
#6 Opsidianos Art Cafe in Pollina
This is a perfect little secluded bar in the fishing port of Pollina, where we stayed. It’s great for pre or post dinner drinks! It has the best views and the best cocktails!
