Steve and I enjoy eating out and discovering new places that serve good quality food. Good food doesn’t always have to be expensive, if it’s fresh, tasty and authentic it gets my vote! We’ve been in New York City a couple of months now discovering our new neighbourhood and scoping out some tasty street food places, here are four places you’ve got to try in New York City.
First up is Kings of Kobe on 9th 52nd street for the most amazing hot dogs! We ordered 2 signature dogs which are definitely worth raving about, what makes them unique is the wagu beef, when the meat is this good, all you need is a simple classic dressing, oh and the onion rings are a great side! The atmosphere is chilled and the deco super cool.
The Great Northern Food Hall is located in Grand Central Station, where New York meets the Nordics and it’s absolutely fab! Bought to New York by one of the founders of the famous Noma restaurant in Denmark, it’s delicious fresh ingredients served as open sandwiches are a must, otherwise known as a smorrebrod. The setting is amazing, I recommend a drink at their stunning bar before you eat. What’s amazing about this place, is that getting in to Noma would take months on a waiting list, instead you can walk in the Grand Central Station and get a seat and experience these great Danish dishes.
Los Tacos No.1 is in Chelsea Market on 75th 9th Avenue serves up mouth watering tacos! We’ve tried most of the toppings there as we visit the market a fair bit to get our fresh shopping produce at the weekends. The chicken and the beef are my favourites, the team there are brilliant, the Tacos are made whilst you wait and they are outstanding! My favourite so far in New York!
Pizza Suprema is 5 minutes walk from our apartment. I’m really happy with where we decided to live in New York we love the location and it just so happens this fantastic pizza place is just round the corner from us! It’s still a novelty buying pizza in slices, oppose to the whole pizza like you do in London. The slices here are thin, crispy and the toppings fresh, all the pizza’s are cooked as you wait, so they’re super fresh.
I hope you enjoy these places as much as we have!
