I’ve really enjoyed styling Maternity Clothes since becoming pregnant. I didn’t want to buy a lot of maternity clothes. Rather try and adapt my current items and purchase a capsule wardrobe for cute maternity clothes.

First of all, I went through my existing wardrobe and set aside any clothes with elasticated waists. When you become pregnant your waistline starts to disappear pretty quickly. I think mine went quicker than most because I was bloated from the IVF. Which meant I never got my waist back before I started showing. Instead what becomes the perfect line to style your Maternity Clothes from is under the bust. Under the bust becomes the new waist! Meaning anything that is elasticated can be pulled up higher to sit under the bust like I’ve shown here. Along with clothes that have the hemline already under the bust, like this dress I wore to brunch the other day.  Tailored clothes and jeans all became a no go for me, and so I have put them all in the back of my wardrobe.

As someone who loves fashion, I knew I wanted to stay stylish whilst pregnant.

Next, I pulled together pieces I wanted for my Maternity Clothes capsule wardrobe. Here’s a list of what I choose.

  • Basic T-shirts. Grey, White and Black
  • Basic T-shirt Dresses Black and Grey
  • Denim Shorts
  • Maternity Jeans A light and a dark pair

The retailers I have used for my capsule Maternity Clothes are:

Accessories are most definitely a fun part to any styling in my opinion. I love my accessories and the great thing about pregnancy is they still fit! As it’s summer I’ve been wearing my slides a lot and my lighter handbags always get the most wear in the summer months. My current favourite colour for accessories is white. I’ve added some white slides and sunglasses to my wardrobe this year and can’t stop wearing those!

As well as bags and shoe accessories when pregnant can include blazers and dusters. Adding a blazer over some shorts has helped me if I am feeling a bit self-conscious or just want a bit more coverage. Likewise, layering a duster over a T-shirt dress is the perfect way to frame the bump!

There are a ton of Maternity Clothes out there but in general, I’ve had fun styling up clothes I have and mixing in just a few maternity pieces. There is one investment Maternity piece I have my eye on here. It looks super comfy and stylish and I am thinking that with a little belt around the waist it can also be worn after the baby is born too. What do you think? Do you like it?

In other news, Steve and I are heading off on our babymoon next week! We’re so excited. In between moving to New York and having IVF taking a holiday hasn’t really been a priority over the last couple of years. It’s going to be so wonderful to take a holiday and have time together as a couple before the newest member of our family arrives.
